I thought Africa was supposed to be the 3rd World

Life and Dignity of the Human Person: Human life is sacred because it is a gift from God. We are all God's children and share the same human dignity from the moment of conception to natural death. Our dignity - our worth and value - comes from being made in the image and likeness of God. This dignity makes us equal. As Christians we respect all people, even those we do not know.

I saw this article and thought it was very interesting, given the debate over abortion that seems to never end in America. The government of Kenya has added a provision to ban all abortions in their country, yet church leaders are protesting it because it allows for doctors to perform an abortion if there is danger to the mother. I understand why the Church would be upset by this, but to ban a law that would help in the overall case against abortions seems almost foolish to me. This law could do some good in working towards ending abortions everywhere.

What bothers me even more is that this is happening in Kenya not the US. We live in a country where abortion is legalized yet no one even seems to care that other countries are banning it themselves. Why is it that standards for living ethically have dropped so much in the US? We need to start taking steps in the right direction now. A law like the one in Kenya would recognize that abortion is wrong, yet give exceptions to the concerns of women truly in danger. If pro-abortion people only ever see us demanding anything but a complete ban on abortions, how are they ever going to understand our point of view?
